ABOUT PS&J

Established in 1986, PS&J Software Six Sigma is a management consulting and training firm specializing measurement driven project management and  continuous process improvement.   

PS&J Software Six Sigma has an international client base with customers in North America, Europe, and Asia whose applications cover a broad range of mission critical software products including: aerospace, industrial automation and control, financial services, medical instrumentation, consumer electronics, and telecommunications.

Prior to joining PS&J Software Six Sigma, our principals formed the core of Honeywell International's corporate software process improvement organization, providing management and process support for 6000 software engineers at 100 sites around the world.  They were responsible for Honeywell's CMM assessment program and for developing AlliedSignal’s approach for bringing six sigma techniques into software engineering.

All of our team members have extensive hands-on experience in software development, software project management and in leading software process improvement.  They have used quantitative management techniques on real projects and teach from personal experience.

Our experience with development, management, and process improvement provides us with the breadth and credibility required to recognize and address all the various stakeholder needs and to help our customer's succeed.

SEI PARTNER PROGRAM

The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) licenses specific technologies to organizations through their Partner program. The Partner program was put in place to provide leadership in the transition of new software engineering technology into practice.  The SEI imposes stringent quality control standards on the staff of its Partners converging education and experience to guarantee that they are capable of delivering services to SEI's standards.  All of our team members have completed all SEI training requirements and have been observed by the SEI as part of the authorization process.

PS&J Software Six Sigma is an SEI Licensed Partner for PSP and TSP.  PS&J Software Six Sigma is an SEI approved vendor and is fully authorized to deliver all SEI training courses for PSP and to facilitate TSP launches.

PS&J Software Six Sigma is an SEI Licensed Partner for CMMI.  We are authorized to deliver CMMI training and to perform CMMI assessments using the SCAMPI appraisal methodology.

TEAM MEMBERS

Ellen George - Ellen has 20 years of experience in software development, software process improvement, and project management.  As manager of the Software Engineering Process Group, Ellen, together with Steve Janiszewski,  led Allied Signal’s Teterboro New Jersey site to become the first CMM Level 4 site within the corporation.  She later became the software project manager of Allied Signal’s first TSP project.  Ellen has since become an SEI authorized PSP instructor and TSP launch coach.  More recently, Ellen was a member of Honeywell’s corporate Software Six Sigma organization, helping to lead the deployment of software process improvement initiatives in over 100 sites worldwide.  She has been active in training and management consulting on the application of software process.  Ellen holds a BA degree in Math from Fordham University, and both an MS in Computer Science & a Masters in Technology Management from the Stevens Institute of Technology.

 

Steve Janiszewski - Steve has over 25 years of experience in all phases of software development, management, and process improvement.  As Manager of the Software Engineering Department in Teterboro New Jersey,  Steve, together with Ellen George, led that site to become the first CMM Level 4 site within AlliedSignal. Starting in 1997,  Steve led the introduction of PSP and TSP at AlliedSignal.   Prior to joining PS&J Software Six Sigma, Steve was the Director of the Honeywell corporate System and Software Six Sigma organization.  At Honeywell, Steve’s responsibilities included providing process assessments, training, management consulting, and improvement planning assistance throughout the corporation , servicing over 6000 software engineers in more than 100 locations world-wide.  He has consulted on the application of software process to diverse domains including aerospace, medical instrumentation, industrial automation, automotive system, and financial systems. Steve is an SEI authorized PSP instructor and TSP Launch Coach. He holds a MS and Ph.D. in theoretical physics from NYU.

 

Chuck Myers - Chuck has over 15 years of CMM-based process improvement experience. His specialty is helping clients develop the technical, procedural, and organizational knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for successfully managing change and implementing process improvement.  The workshop-style training he has developed has been described by participants as "the best management training I’ve ever received" and "life changing".  Chuck’s career spans over thirty-five years in the military and industry. A 1968 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Chuck served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army for eight years of active duty that included tours in Germany, Viet Nam, and the Continental United States. After resigning his commission, Chuck earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at Indiana University, and subsequently joined Grumman Aerospace Corporation. There he participated in the design and development of automated training systems and integrated logistics support systems.  Chuck joined the SEI in 1987 and worked in a number of different areas associated with software technology transition. He was the principal author of the SEI’s Managing Technological Change course and was a co-developer of its Consulting Skills Workshop. He also served as the lead for the Technology Adoption Architectures project, which was responsible for expanding and developing the IDEAL® Model to version 1.1. Chuck’s work at the SEI focused heavily on process improvement implementation. He pioneered the application of organization development approaches to the software arena.  Chuck continues his relationship with the SEI as a Visiting Scientist.
