PS&J Software Six Sigma is pleased to announce a public offering of Introduction to CMMI in  Pittsburgh, PA on November 7 - 9, 2007.  This course covers the lastest revision of the CMMI, Version 1.2, for both the staged and continuous representations. PS&J is an SEI Partner for CMMI.  This offering is for the full SEI-authorized Intro to CMMI course and includes the standard SEI lecture notes and a copy of the textbook "CMMI: Guidelines for Process Integration and Product Improvement" by Mary Beth Chrissis, Mike Konrad, and Sandy Shrum.  Successfully completing this course qualifies participants for taking the Intermediate Concepts of CMMI course from the SEI. The Intermediate course is a prerequisite for SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Training and CMMI Instructor Training. All SCAMPI appraisal team members are required to take the introductory course.

 

This offering is for the new SEI course covering BOTH the Staged and Continuous Representations.

 

Our instructor, Dr. Chuck Myers, teaches the Introduction to CMMI course for the SEI as a visiting scientist.  When working for the SEI, he also teaches the Intermediate Concepts of CMMI course as well as the CMMI Instructor Training course and performs observations of candidate instructors.

Students who successfully complete this course will receive completion certificates and will be registered with the SEI.

Course Description: This course introduces systems and software engineering managers and practitioners, appraisal team members, and engineering process group (EPG) members to the CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration). After attending the course, participants will understand how to apply CMMI models to their organization’s process improvement program.

  • be able to locate and begin to apply relevant information in the model for their organization

  • understand the key concepts about model structure and function, and important model relationships

Our Instructor:  Dr. Chuck Myers has over 15 years of CMM-based process improvement experience. His specialty is helping clients develop the technical, procedural, and organizational knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for successfully managing change and implementing process improvement. Chuck’s career spans over thirty-five years in the military and industry. A 1968 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Chuck served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for eight years. Chuck earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at Indiana University, and subsequently joined Grumman Aerospace Corporation. There he participated in the design and development of automated training systems and integrated logistics support systems. Chuck joined the SEI in 1987 and worked in a number of different areas associated with software technology transition. He was the principal author of the SEI’s Managing Technological Change course and was a co-developer of its Consulting Skills Workshop. He also served as the lead for the Technology Adoption Architectures project, which was responsible for expanding and developing the IDEAL Model to version 1.1. Chuck’s work at the SEI focused heavily on process improvement implementation. He pioneered the application of organization development approaches to the software arena. Chuck continues his relationship with the SEI as a Visiting ScientistWhen working for the SEI, Chuck teaches the Introduction to CMMI course, the Intermediate Concepts of CMMI course and the CMMI Instructor Training course.  He also performs observations of candidate CMMI instructors.
